Three Board Seats Are Available — We Need Your Help!

For the first time, the Copper Valley Community Services District (CVCSD) has three Board of Directors seats available, and at this time, no candidates have come forward.

The filing period for the November election has now closed with Calaveras County. Because there are no candidates, these positions will not be filled through the November election. Instead, qualified community members will have the opportunity to be appointed by the current CVCSD Board of Directors.

The individuals appointed will begin serving on the Board in December 2026.

Serving on the CVCSD Board is an opportunity to have a direct voice in the future of Copper Valley. Board members help govern our community, make important decisions, and work to ensure that the services, facilities, and common areas our residents depend on continue to be well maintained.

Who Can Apply?

To be considered for appointment to the CVCSD Board of Directors, you must:

  • Live within the Copper Valley Community Services District.
  • Be a registered voter.
  • Provide your name and address.
  • Provide a brief statement explaining why you want to serve on the CVCSD Board of Directors.
  • Be willing to speak with the current Board as part of the appointment process.

What Does Serving Involve?

Board members attend regular Board meetings, participate in discussions and decisions affecting the community, and help provide direction for the District.

As a Board member, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Help govern and shape the future of our community.
  • Have a voice in decisions that affect Copper Valley residents.
  • Help direct how District funds and tax dollars are used.
  • Help maintain and improve our community's facilities and services.
  • Work with fellow Board members and District staff to get things done.
  • Help preserve the quality of life and the community we are proud to call home.

Board Member Compensation

Board members receive $100 for each Board meeting they attend as compensation for their service.

Mosquito Fogging Begins Tonight

We want to let you know that our first mosquito fogging treatment of the season will begin tonight in an effort to help reduce mosquito activity throughout the community.

Fogging is scheduled to start this evening and will take place during nighttime hours, when mosquitoes are most active and conditions are most effective for treatment. Our goal is to help improve comfort and reduce mosquito-related concerns for residents.

As a precaution, we recommend that residents:

  • Remain indoors while fogging is taking place nearby
  • Close windows and doors during treatment hours
  • Bring pets, food items, and outdoor toys indoors if possible

Weather conditions may affect scheduling, and additional treatments may be planned as needed throughout the season.

Mosquito Abatement Activity

This notice is to inform you that mosquito abatement activities will soon be conducted in your neighborhood as part of an ongoing effort to protect public health and reduce mosquito populations.

Spraying is scheduled to begin shortly and will take place during the evening hours, when mosquito activity is highest and conditions are most effective for treatment.

The products used are approved for public health use and will be applied by trained professionals in accordance with all safety guidelines. While the spraying poses minimal risk to people and pets, residents may choose to take simple precautions such as:

  • Staying indoors during application times
  • Closing windows and doors
  • Bringing pets and outdoor items inside temporarily

Mosquito control is essential in reducing the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses and improving overall community comfort.

Entrance Gate Notice - March 17, 2026

We want to inform you that the entrance gate is currently being kept open due to a mechanical issue. A component of the gate motor (a cog) broke a few days ago.

The repair is straightforward, and the necessary fix is expected to be completed within the next few days. Until the repair is finished, the gate will remain open.

We appreciate your understanding and patience while we resolve this issue.

Sidewalk Grinding Notice – Starting March 9, 2026

 

Beginning Monday, March 9, crews will start grinding uneven spots on sidewalks throughout the community. This work is being done to reduce tripping hazards and improve pedestrian safety. 

Residents may notice brief noise and equipment in different areas while the work is underway. Please use caution around work zones and follow any temporary signage or instructions from the crew.

Upcoming Irrigation Wire Repair – March 3, 2026

Dear Community Members,

Last year, we experienced a failure in several direct burial wires servicing a section of our landscape irrigation valves. To resolve this issue, we will be completing repairs on Tuesday, March 3.

We will be renting a walk-behind trencher to install approximately 200+ feet of new wire. The work will take place on Oak Creek Drive, between the #17 green and the Knolls pond in Park Parcel P-1. All trenching will be confined to our designated landscape areas.

FINAL REMINDER/ CLOSURE OF THE ENTRANCE  GATE ON JANUARY 14TH, 2026

Dear Copper Valley Residents,

This email serves as a final reminder and follow-up regarding the upcoming closure of the entrance gate on January 14th and the required update to our gate access system.

As previously communicated, Copper Valley Community Services District is upgrading our gate access system to improve security and privacy. As part of this update, older two-button gate clickers will no longer be supported once the entrance gate is closed on January 14th.

Important Reminder:

  • Newer three-button clickers will continue to function normally.
  • Older two-button clickers (LiftMaster style) will be deactivated and will no longer open the gate after January 14th.

To ensure uninterrupted access, residents currently using a two-button clicker must select one of the following options:

  • Receive a replacement RFID sticker, or
  • Purchase a new three-button clicker for $50

To request either option, please complete the Gate Access Request Form and return it to the district as soon as possible. Forms may be:

  • Dropped off at the gatehouse, or
  • Emailed to mcgeorgecvcsd@caltel.com

Residents who do not turn in their old two-button clickers or submit a request form before January 14th may experience loss of gate access.

Dear Copper Valley Residents,

We would like to inform you that the Copper Valley CSD will be updating our gate access system to enhance security and privacy. As part of this update, the old two-button gate clickers (see image below) will no longer be supported.

The image shows a LiftMaster remote control with two buttons and a clip, designed for garage door operation.

There are two types of gate clickers currently in use:

  • Newer three-button clickers will continue to work as normal.
  • Older two button clickers will be discontinued.

To accommodate these changes, we will be replacing all two-button clickers with RFID stickers. Residents may also choose to purchase a new three-button clicker for $50.

To request either option, please complete the Gate Access Request Form by following the link below and returning it to the district. You can either drop it off at the gatehouse or email it to mcgeorgecvcsd@caltel.com.

PUBLIC NOTICE COPPER VALLEY CSD – MOSQUITO ABATEMENT During the next several months, Copper Valley CSD will be increasing Mosquito abatement activities due to warmer temperatures and increasing mosquito populations. Work will include inspections of known and suspect mosquito breeding sites, such as irrigated lands, ditches, waterways, ponds, wild life habitat area, and wetlands. Mosquitoes will be controlled using integrated pest management techniques (IPM), including: applications of approved use pesticides to breeding sites and areas of high adult mosquito populations, mosquito eating fish in ponds and public education efforts. Additionally, the CSD will be increasing surveillance in attempt to detect mosquito-transmitted diseases, such as West Nile Virus, Western Equine Encephalitis, Zika and other vector borne diseases. In most cases, spraying of approved pesticides will occur on Thursdays during the late afternoon or early evening hours. While the spraying activity does not present a health risk to residents, there will be noticeable odor. To minimize this problem, windows and doors should remain closed while the activity is occurring near your area and should remain closed for approximately 30 minutes after it is completed.
